Frequently Asked Questions.
There is no such thing as a silly question! If you are looking to train with me I am sure you have many questions you want answering. Here is a selection of my most frequently asked questions to get you started but if there is anything I haven’t covered here, please drop me a line.
Do I have to be fit to start?
Absolutely not! I take on many clients of varying abilities, ages and demographics. Many of my clients also have different sporting interests and reasons for training; from someone training to run a marathon, a swimmer, weight-loss, mountain biker and someone who is over 60!
How does your free consultation work?
If you aren’t sure about training or nutrition, whats involved or if we are right for you, then we offer a free 30 minute consultation. This is usually done via Zoom and is your chance to chat with me about your goals and aims. Once you have had your consult, you can then decide if you want to take it further. No strings attached!
How does the programming work?
Based on what your goals and aims are, I will create you a bespoke training program to get there. This will be emailed to you weekly (usually around Thursday) for you to complete in your own time. This can be in the gym or at home without equipment. We are always in contact, so you can update me on how your training is progressing and i will build this into your plan.
Do I need equipment?
Most people I work with have access to a gym and facility where they train. Some however don’t and this is fine. Dependant on your goal, we don’t always need a gym to get you in shape. I can set you bodyweight workouts you can do at home. Perhaps you want to run a marathon, well you don’t necessarily need a gym for that, you will be out running in your local area, at times that suit you.
I have a busy schedule, how flexible is the training?
Your training program is bespoke to you and completely flexible to your lifestyle and commitments. As we are in regular contact, I will program your rest days to suit you, this could be to work around business meetings or social events. You also have the ability to move your sessions around to suit you. If you cant get to the gym one day, thats fine, you can move that session to a day you can.
I don’t like PT sessions, do I have to have them?
Many people love one to one time with me but no, you don’t have to have them. These are an optional extra to your training program. Some of my clients like a weekly or monthly PT session but this isn’t necessary, other clients get their program weekly and just get on with it. The choice is absolutely yours. I can also do PT or technique sessions over Zoom.
Do I need any experience?
Nope, none at all. I would advise if you have no experience in a gym environment that you have some PT sessions with me, so I can ensure you are moving well and cover off the basics and key movements with you, however no experience is necessary as I will teach you everything you need to know.
What if I get injured?
Unfortunately injury happens and if you get injured or are injured at the outset of our training together, then we can work around this. We can program regressions and alternative exercises to keep you moving and keep you fit through injury. Please always tell us if you re injured or get injured as it is vital we know.
What if I don’t like training and wish to cancel?
I am certain you will love the results you get working with me but not all relationships work out. If that is the case then our contracts run month to month, so I only need a months written notice. There are no cancelation fee’s or hard feelings!
What does the nutrition coaching include?
Most clients choose to just have a nutrition consultation, which is an hour to discuss your nutrition habits and goals. From this, I will give you a breakdown of macro nutrient intake in grams and also calories, as well as total calories by day. We will also discuss a plan together of how you will reach your goal.
The monthly nutrition programming goes further by giving you access to recipes and a weekly meal planner, as well as a weekly catch up with me to keep you on track.
Can I combine fitness programming with nutrition programming each month?
Yes you can! And many clients choose to do this. This is a full package and gives you a really well rounded approach to training and nutrition, as well as more bang for your buck.
